I'm going to show you how to make garlic bread in an air fryer! This air fryer garlic bread recipe is easy, garlic-y cheesy & ready in under 10 minutes!
How do you make garlic bread in an air fryer? I was actually skeptical at first & wasn't sure if the air fryer would actually toast bread (spoiler: it does!). I was able to make an entire loaf into toasted garlic bread! Depending on the size of your air fryer, you can make lots of garlic bread slices fast.

Air Fryer Garlic Bread Ingredients
- Garlic
- Bread (we used fresh french bread)
- Vegan Butter
- Garlic Powder (optional)
- Vegan Cheese (optional)
There are definitely a few more things you may want to add to your garlic bread (vegan cheese anyone?!) but this recipe is a starting point that you can add!
How To Make Garlic Bread in Air Fryer
Making garlic bread in air fryers is super easy. You can also make cheezy garlic bread by adding your favourite cheeze to the bread half way through the cooking period.
I used a fresh loaf of crusty french bread, that's what we recommend for best results, but you can make it with any bread.
- Start by melting your butter and stirring minced garlic in with your butter. If you're lazy you can spread the cold butter on the bread and minced garlic on top of that. I find melting it first makes it more even and distributes the flavor better.
- Scoop the butter/garlic mixture onto your sliced bread, half a tablespoon at a time, and spread around evenly. Repeat for all your pieces of bread.
- Optional step, sprinkle garlic powder on top, I recommend this step it gives the bread a bit more flavor that's worth it!
- Place as many pieces of bread in the air fryer basket at once without having them stacked on top of each other.
- Turn the air fryer on to 400 degrees for 4-7 minutes check every few minutes to ensure they haven't burned. If you're adding plant-based cheese add it midway through the cooking time.
- Top with parsley flakes and serve.
It truly is that simple and it makes a very crispy and very tasty garlic bread!
Kitchen Equipment I used for recipe:
- Ninja Foodie 9-1 Air Fryer Unit – Okay I’ll be the first to admit I was an air fryer hater before but now I am the ultimate air fryer truther! This is the unit I use and it’s unreal because it comes with an instant pot, steamer, dehydrator, sautee, and more all in one unit! It comes in a couple of different sizes (I got the 8 quarts and it’s huge but I love it).

One of the great things about making your own food is you can control what goes into and most of the time make it taste way better than store bought pre packaged food. This toast has fewer calories and more nutrients than the classic store bought Texas toast.
As garlic is the main component of this dish I would like to talk about it a little more in depth here.
Garlic has quite literally been used for its healing properties for thousands of years. The ancient egyptians knew it, the babylonians knew it, and we know it. Garlic is truly a super food full of goodness and nutrition (bonus it makes food taste great)
- Combat sickness including the common cold
- Reduce blood pressure
- Boost antioxidant levels
- Increase athletic performance
- Helps keep vampires away (just kidding.. sort of)
- and more!
The only real downfall of garlic is if you eat too much it makes your breath stink, like really stink so if you do eat too much make sure you have some mints for those around you.
Commonly Asked Air Fryer Garlic Bread Questions
Can you toast bread in an air fryer?
Yes! toasting bread in an air fryer is easy. Simply place your sliced bread into the air fryer basket and turn on at 400 degrees for 3-5 minutes depending on how toasted you like it. No need to flip.
How do you make garlic brad not soggy?
That's easy, if you're making garlic bread from scratch and it's coming out soggy it's probably because you're using too much of the liquid component and don't have it on a high enough heat setting. Try using less liquid and turning up the heat a bit.
